Anita,
Thank you for allowing me to take the assessment test. I have just completed
it. I would like to further discuss my training needs and how I can step into
my calling.
I would like to share some basic diagnostics of who I am. I turned my life
over to Christ August 20, 2002. I am a member at Houston's First Baptist
Church, where I have attended since I was young. I am currently involved in
the staff intercessor prayer group, prayer before the service on Sunday's, and
most recently joined the Tuesday prayer circle to pray for church needs and
the lost. I am a volunteer with Mary Ann Bridgwater at Pray the Word
ministries, since January 2003. I currently am unemployed, spending every day
in God's Word and prayer seeking His will for my life.
I would love to share just a small portion of what God's doing and calling me
to do in my life. The best way I know is to attach my written testimony. I
know God is calling me to minister to alcoholics and addicts, especially
women. I have written a prayer guide for the addict for Pray the Word
ministries, which will be in print soon. Because I am relatively new in Christ
and knowing that I need to have a certain amount of sobriety (Praise God, so
far 1 year, 3 months and 4 days), I have not jumped into anything yet, other
than pressing into church fellowship, Pray the Word, bible study and prayer. I
know there is training involved in this calling on my life, which is why I am
writing to you.
I had no idea why God called me to go to the conference this past weekend, I
had no idea what it was about, He just said go and provided a scholarship
through you for me to be there. I praise God for your faithfulness and
obedience to the call He has on your life. I fell to my knees as soon as I
walked in the door from the conference and God has given me the definite
confirmation and direction I have been diligently seeking from Him. To make a
long story short, as I continue to press into this call He has on my life, I
am sure He is telling me to get more training to share and speak my testimony.
I believe you offer this kind of training. I am also sure He wants me to
attend the College of Biblical Studies. From going to the conference, He
has re-confirmed my decision to go to India in Dec. 2004.
I apologize for this long dissertation about me, however I believe it is
important for you to know some details. I would love to talk with you about
further training needs I may have, also guidance on this decision to
attend the school. My husband works and we are able to pay our bills, but
with no extra to spare. He is supportive of me in the ministry God has called
me to and not pressing me to get a job, but also expects me to provide for
this ministry myself through donations or sponsorship. I don't know if any
financial assistance or scholarships to attend the College of Biblical Studies
or any other training is available. If you would, please send me
information, or call me, I would love to talk with you further about all this.
Prayerfully, In Christ,
Carol Simmons
