Raising
My Sister’s Hand
By
Anita Grace Lie Carman
(Theme
song of the Inspire Women’s Conference)
Holy
Father, may my heart’s mission beat as one with yours
May
I see divine appointments in the midst of my chores.
For
you sent me in this world to represent your name
And
when I am here no longer, may I not be ashamed.
Who,
among my sisters, needs to hear your word of power?
Who
have you sent me to offer the blessings you shower?
Oh
to think that my hurry might have hurt a tender heart
Forgive,
Lord, for those I left behind, when I missed my part.
Was
it a word of affirmation that you assigned me to speak?
Was
it resources you entrusted to me, I had no right to keep?
Was
it influence I refused to release, to help another reach higher?
Was
I consumed with me instead of fanning someone else’s fire?
Oh,
when I reach that heavenly mount, may I not stand alone.
But
may my sisters stand with me because of seeds that I have sown.
And
when this race is said and done and dreams are finally won
May
I know I raised my sister’s hand to see her singing in the sun?
